Bible Point: God's Word is surprising!
Bible Story: Paul survives a bite by a poisonous snake.
Bible Verse: "Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions" (Psalm 119:18)

Paul's surprising adventures didn't end with a storm and shipwreck. When all the sailors, guards, and prisoners made it to land, they discovered that they'd landed on the island of Malta. The islanders welcomed the men and built a fire to keep everyone warm. Paul gathered an armload of sticks and set them in the flames.
Unfortunately there was a surprise waiting for Paul. Paul didn't realize a poisonous viper had hidden in the wood. When the snake bit Paul on the hand, the islanders assumed Paul would die. Surprise! Paul simply shook the snake into the fire and went about his business. Amazed, the people changed their opinions of Paul.
Can you guess what surprise is hiding in the greenery?
